FoOtBaLl

As a desendent of Walt Brooks they (people at Dixie) asked Dad to deliver the game ball to the team at the First home game for Dixie High this year.
Warren, Walt and Jason were all able to attend
Dad Delivering the ball Mr. ?, Warren, Walt, Jason, Dad and Mr. Bair Meeting the players!

For any of you who didn't know my Grandpa Brooks, he LOVED Football and was a coach for many, many years! I was able to spend the last year of his life with him taking care of him at his home. That is where we really gained a relationship. He couldn't speak but only a few words (Football, chocolate milk, Go, No and some others) due to having a stroke but could feel his love and support. He was so happy and loved to listen to the piano. When I would get home from work he would usually be watching a game of some sport on T.V. and then before bed would go into the family room where the paino was and sit in his recliner and I would play for him. I am not very good by any means but he still loved to listen to me play! I sure do miss and love him. I sure do cherish the memories I got to spend with him. Love you Gramps!

1 Year Stats & Cooper Update

I still can't get over the fact that I have a ONE year old now! Ahhh...seriously! We went to the Dr. for Kallie's 1 year check up (Oct.4th). She LOVED Dr. Marsden and showing off for him until he wanted to check out her ears, nose and throat...then she was done! Well soon did she know she would get shots...so SAD!

Here she is looking all adorableHer Stats for 12 months are:

Weight: 17 lbs 15oz. 7%
Height: 28.5 28%
Head: 18.2 82%

She got 4 shots and was not a happy camper but they did great and tag teamed her so it wasn't half as bad.

Few things she says:

Da (Dad) *She will walk around the house saying this until she finds Nick and then gets the biggest smile on her face.
Mum (Mom)
Mmmm...

Things I love:

  • every time I put tights, jammies or socks on her, she twirls her foot around
  • gives her stuffed animals kisses
  • the way he walks
  • her babbling
  • how she knocks on everything

Things about Kallie:

  • mimicks everything i do. putting make-up on, cleaning the floors

Kallie's ONE

I cannot believe that this sweet little baby turned ONE! I am dying...it seriously feels like I just had her. I remember it so clear. I am excited for her to be at this fun stage but I really miss her being tiny! For Kallie's birthday Mom, Dad and Coop went shopping and picked out this cute little princess car and the pop-up number (this was from Cooper..he wanted to give her his own present).

She LOVED both of her presents and whenever I would tell her to say "cheese" this is the face I got. I think it is hilarious!
For her birthday we had a luau at the park for her and Uncle Steve. Teria made this cute invite for the party. We had a delicious pork and rice dinner...thanks Aunt Toni!
Cake Time
The cake that she is indulging in is her free cake from Albertson's! It was awesome! She was hilarious when we put the cake in front of her. She just looked at it like, "What do you want me to do with this!" Kay gave her a fork and she was much happier. She went to town! This cute Hawaiian shirt cake is one that Jen B. made. It turned out darling...and delicious!
Cupcakes Teria took some pictures of Kallie for her birthday and I just can't get over how ADORABLE they are. Thanks SO much Teria and thanks Joanna for the location idea!

Kallie's surgery

When Kallie was about 2 months old she got a little spot of her face which I thought was a little baby acne. I scratched it off....ya i know...your not suppose to. Well, it didn't go away. It just grew..and grew. It grew really fast and so we took her into the Dr for him to check it out. It looked kind of like a mole but he wasn't quite sure what it was so he referred us to a plastic surgeon. We went and met with Dr. Klomp who was AMAZING and he really wasn't quite sure exactly what it was either. He was really concerned at how fast it had grown but didn't want to jump into surgery and take it off since she was so young. We waited a few month to watch the growth and went back in for a visit. It had barley grown since the last appointment and so he suggested since she was almost one we could go ahead and remove it to make sure it wasn't cancerous. We scheduled her for surgery and went in 9/8/10. She did fairly well for having to fast for so long. We got to the hospital and they got her back and ready. She looked so cute in her little tiger gown. Dr. Klomp took her and did an excellent job. She has a little scar right on her crease line of her cheek so it is barley noticeable. I love how they gave her a little pink wrap over her IV site. So cute! :) All went well with her surgery until the next day. She was fevering and got up to 103.7! I was freaking out because she started panting and having a harder time breathing. We talked to Dr. Klomp and he said a fever was normal but that was pretty high and the panting was something to be concerned about so Nick gave her a blessing and we headed to the ER. That was a horrible!! They had to get a urine sample which resulted into getting a catheter. Oh WOW...It was heartbreaking. The nurse tried to get it in but was struggling and Kallie was screaming, both parents crying and not knowing what to do..finally a ped. nurse came and got it right on the first try. Thank goodness for Nick's dad. He came and helped out and was such a great support. It is nice to have medical people in the family! She has been healing quite nicely and it is crazy to remember her with her little 'beauty mark'! We followed up with Dr. Klomp a week after surgery and everything looked good. Turns out it was just a really random growth that only happen to like 2% of infants and happens between the age of 2 months and 2 years. So glad it was just nothing!

4th of July

For the 4th of July this year we did our traditional family swim party and KFC kitchen. We had a blast! Cooper LOVES swimming so he didn't spend much time out of the water. Kallie on the other hand did NOT enjoy it! She pretty much stayed on the lap of someone the whole time :)
After the delicious food and swimming we went home for a few minutes to rest and then headed over to Walt and Jen's for the firework show. We had quite the show....who snuck in those illegal fireworks?!? This was our attempt at a family shot. Coop...not so happy!

My Birthday

For my birthday Nick took me to Vegas. Cooper has been begging to go to M&M world ever since he heard about it so we went and checked it out. None of us had ever been there so it was fun to go.Cooper loved seeing the race car! As soon as we got to M&M world Cooper was asking where the "real life" M&M was. We went up the 4 floors way fast just to find the M&M...well, we never found him. Coop was so sad. As we were walking out the doors there he was!! Coop couldn't stop talking about him! We stopped at RainForest Cafe for a bite to eat before we headed home. Coop was pretty entertained and enthralled by all the rain forest animals. It's amazing how I can't manage to get one picture of Cooper looking at the camera!!

Summertime Fun

I guess it is pretty HOT outside when you find a dog in the ducks water tub I could hear Toby squawking SO loud so I went outside and found Ossie (Bonnie's dog) in Toby's water tub. It was pretty funny!

Coop has been enjoying sleepovers with cousins We came into the living room that morning and this is how we found the boys. I couldn't find Brenden and then I saw legs by his pillow. :)

Making a GIANT cookie for Grandpa
My dad LOVES oatmeal raisin cookies so for Father's Day we make him a GIANT one!

Bathtime in Mom's tub Cooper loves to take baths in the "big" tub so him and Kallie have been in there a lot. Kallie loves to pull herself up and look over.

9 months old!!

She is so fun!
I love her expressions We took Kallie in for her 9 month appt and she was a champ until she got her shots...darn shots! Dr. Marsden was mesmerized by her big blues! Here are her stats: 16 lbs 15% 28 in. long 75%

  • loves to eat table food
  • hates drinking her bottle unless she is ready for bed
  • has four teeth (both tops and both bottoms)
  • tries to stand on her own but only last barley a second
  • when she talks it sounds like she says "thank you"
  • loves when cooper acts like a bear and scares her. she laughs so hard
  • loves to look a picture books
  • does NOT hold still especially at church
  • loves to go for walks in the stroller
  • has the cutest little wave
  • tries to kiss everyone, stuffed animals and pictures :)

Crazy Hair after bath time

I AM A POLICE MAN Cooper found this Police hat in the $1 section at Target. He loves his hat! He claims he now a Police Man :)

Brooks Family Reunion

We had our 2nd Brooks Reunion this year and it was so much fun! We went up to Navajo Lake. It was gorgeous and the weather was awesome except it was freezing at Night. Cooper had so much fun he didn't want to leave. There is something about him and being in the mountains. He listens better, sleeps better, eats better, etc.. We might have to move to the mountains ;)
Cortney & Kay brought up this fun game that they played at Youth Conference called "Corn Hole" it was way fun! The kids also made some crafts that turned out darling!
Here is all the clan who was there! Dad's hair looked awesome ;)
Our favor tie time of course was chow time! We had the most delicious Navajo Tacos, Fried Chicken, Potatoes, Homemade Root beer, salads and desserts. The kids went to the Navajo Lake and were able to go rowing in the boats and went hiking to the spring. The also enjoyed some yummy snow cones. Thanks to all the adults that took them. And of course campfire fun! Jason and Kalynn brought the biggest marshmallows ever! They were so yummy! I think Brooke won the prize for the "most perfectly roasted marshmallow"!!

We had a ton of fun but missed Nick (he had class), Warren's family, and some of the Caplin family! We are already excited for next year!!
