Post # 3 in one day!

Ok so, I know that this is Post #3 in one day but, let me just say that I am going to cry or scream I am not sure which! Cooper decided that he wanted a soda so, he went to the pantry and got out a root beer. Well, he dropped it and it sprayed around the whole kitchen in circles. I mean, it covered the ceiling, walls, doors, fridge, cupboards, stove, dishwasher, you name it! Everything was a STICKY mess. I sent Cooper to his room while I was mopping the floor. I walked by his room and it was pretty quiet and there was a stinky stench coming from his room! Yep, you guessed it! On the floor was his diaper along with what was in his diaper! I put him in the tub and cleaned up not so fun mess number two for the day! Well, I am not saying messes are fun but toys are lots funner than today's messes! I feel like today has been the longest day in the world. Oh, and he won't take a nap! :) The wonderful adventures of being a mom I guess right? Does this happen at your house too? Please tell me it is not just my child!

Brooks Family Reunion

This weekend was the Brooks Family Reunion (my dad's family). We only have one every 5 or 6 years so, it was really fun to get to see everyone but, also very hard to remember names. Our family has grown a ton since our last reunion. Our reunion was up at Little Creek Ranch. It was such nice weather except at night it was a little chilly! Friday we have a bunch of activities to do in the morning. It was fun because they made it so the adults and children to do everything. We had parachute, horseshoes, shooting clay pigeons, and kickball. I think shooting became the favorite! There was this teetor-totter that was a blast. It was fun to watch the kids try and figure out how to get it going. You had to have close to equal weight across from you, so the kids switched seats a few times and got it going.
Our family was in charge of lunch. We did hogies, salads, finger jello, and LOTS and LOTS of desserts! No surprise there! :)
While we were starting to get lunch ready Walt cut his finger almost all the way off. You could see the bone of his index finger. He left a pretty big pool of blood so, while my dad drove him done to the hospital to get stitches we cleaned up the mess and finished getting lunch ready. After lunch we went fishing at Red Creek Reservoir. Ben (one of the cousin's husband) caught a fish and the kids caught crawdads with Nate. When we got back Nate fried up the fish and those who wanted to try it enjoyed it!
Dinner was nice and relaxing. We all just kinda hung out outside and watched the kids play. Then, came karaoke which was pretty fun too. Especially all of the back up dancers! :) Dad did great singing "Honeycomb" with kalynn and grandma jo! It was a lot of fun to be with family and visit with those that we don't get to see very often!

Poor little Coop!

Cooper has been getting bloody noses lately because it has been so dry! The poor little guy had a pretty bad one today and kept freaking out when we would put the toilet paper in his nose. He didn't like the fact that blood was coming out of his nose either so, it was a lose-lose situation! Finally, he kept one in! His nose is so red and is starting to get a little rash. He was so sad and finally fell asleep in the chair. When he woke up he wasn't very happy that the toilet paper was still in his nose but, the bloody nose was gone! I felt so bad for him! It was kind of a rough day for Coop except when he got to go and run through the sprinklers! :)

Steph's Baby Shower!

Saturday, we had a baby shower for my niece Stephanie. We had the baby shower at Benita's house and there were so.. many people and more to come! Probably around 70-80 people. We had lots of yummy food! ( I stayed by the food and monitored it....well, I think I ate mostly rather than monitoring hehe :) !)
She had a blast visiting with everyone and opening TONS of presents. She got really nice things and all of the big stuff you need! We are so excited for baby Benjamin to come. She is due Aug. 1st! Good luck with everything Steph! I only have pictures of her opening presents because I forgot the memory card for my camera. Sorry!

DrIvIn' TrAcToR

The other night we were outside talking with our friends and Cooper ran over to the lot across the street. I was wondering why he was going over there until I realized he must have went over to see the tractor! Cooper loves tractors! Every time we see one he gets so excited and wants to go and drive it. I went over to see what he was doing and he was sitting in the bucket in the front putting dirt clauds in it. The he moved up to the seat and started driving. It was really cute, he was making the sounds of a tractor and kept waving to me saying, "See you later Mom! Love you!" He is growing up so fast I can't keep up! Nick came home and was wearing a had from wheeler and it has the CAT sign on it. Cooper saw it and said, "Daddy, Tractor!" Nick was like what? Cooper said. "Hat" and then we realized he saw the CAT sign and knew that meant tractor! He is a little smarty pants! I love my little tractor man!

SCARY!!

Last night was an eventful night. I opened the door to the garage and noticed a whole bunch of tiny spiders all over the door. I hurried and shut the door. I went outside to open the garage door so I could get to them without them getting to me. Joanna ran next door and got her bug spray and came back to help get rid of the spiders. I think we got them all! Thanks! The rest of the night I just felt like creepy spiders were crawling on me. (thank goodness none did) I put Cooper to bed and came in and checked my email and text Nick. (he has been in Kolob since Thursday with Jeremi, Ty and Chris ) Well, anyway we went to bed and I got a phone call from Nick at 4 am asking me to come and open the front door. I was like, "what? I thought you weren't coming home until tomorrow?" Jen (nick's sister-in-law) had been having contractions 3 minutes apart so she called and the boys came home. When I unlocked the door Nick got a concerned look on his face and said, "It smells way bad like natural gas!" I couldn't smell anything. He asked it I had left the stove on and I told him I didn't even use the stove. He went looking around and the stove was barley on so it had been leaking gas. Cooper must have turned the knob a little or something! So, we opened up all the windows and I went to check on Cooper to make sure he was alive and breathing. I carried him into my bed to sleep with us because I was just too freaked out at this point. This morning I woke up really nauseous and had a headache. I still am so worried about my little guy. He seems to be doing fine though! We are so grateful for prayer and the Lord's blessings and protection . We are so blessed to have him always watching over us and thankful in a way for Jen's contractions or else Cooper and I wouldn't be here right now!

Cooking Class Thursday!

Today for our Thursday Cooking Class we made Orange Rolls! We had so much fun! Raelie and Mikelle came today and learned how to make them. Aunt Toni is such a great instructor! She taught the girls about yeast and how it rises and how fun dough is to play with. While the bread was rising Cooper and the girls went over and saw the horses and played with Daisey (our neighbor's dog) while Toni and I were getting our plans together for Steph's baby shower.
The girls got to roll out their own rolls and make the yummy orange frosting. The rolls turned out absolutely delicious!
Here is the recipe for anyone who wants to try it!

Mom's Orange Rolls
2 pkg, active yeast
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/2 c warm water

Soften yeast; set aside

2 c. milk 1 c. butter

Mix milk and butter in a small saucepan. Scald, then cool till lukewarm.

1/2 c. sugar 2 tsp. salt
9 c. flour 4 beaten eggs
1/2 c. orange juice

Stir sugar, salt and 2 cups flour into cooled milk mixture and beat well. Mix in beaten eggs and orange juice.
Stir in softened yeast. Add remaining flour to make a soft dough. Let side for 10 minutes. Knead dough for 5-10
minutes on lightly floured surface till smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl and turn to grease entire dough surface;
cover and let double in size.

1 c. white sugar 2 Tbsp. butter (very soft)

On lightly floured surface roll dough into a rectangle. Mix sugar and butter and spread over dough. Roll as a jelly roll,
starting with the long edge. Cut in 1 inch slices. Place, cut side down, in greased baking pan or jelly roll pan. Cover; let rise
in warm place till double, 30 minutes. Bake in oven @ 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

2 Tbsp. butter 1 c. powdered sugar
2 Tbsp. orange juice 1 tsp. lemon juice

Mix together. Frost warm rolls for a glaze or wait till cool for frosting!

Yummy!

Today we went and picked out flowers to plant in front of our house. My favorite is probably the Gerber daisies. I had those as my bouquet at our wedding and I just LOVE them. They are so cute! It was a pretty HOT day today so, we got them planted pretty quick.
Cooper loved digging and watering the flowers!

Grasshoppers are too jumpy!

Tonight we were driving in the car and Nick and me were talking and I looked forward and there was a grasshopper right in front of me on the dashboard. YIKES!! My heart started racing and I leaned my seat back as fast as I could and tried to hold as still as possible. Nick was laughing, trying to tell me that it wouldn't bite me! I know they don't bite, but what if it jumped on me????? We stopped and Nick got out and hit the car with his hand and the grasshopper jumped out. WHEW! I know there are lots scarier thing out there, but hey too many bad experiences with them. Me and grasshoppers are not the best of friends! Too jumpy!

Bread Making Round 2

Today was much better for bread making. We had 5 delicious loaves of wheat bread! (all ingredients were added :)

Cedar Mountain

How nice it was to get out the heat for a bit! We went up to Cedar Mountain and enjoyed the nice weather and our picnic. I was really surprised that there was still some snow on the ground.
We had so much fun! Cooper loved riding his trike and playing baseball with dad. He got tried of chasing the ball down into the field though, so it was back to the trike!
